چکیده
A dual-frequency approach is proposed to discriminate hemi-boreal forest species using L- and P-band data. First, it shown that L-band less sensitive the structure than P-band. Second, underlying ground topography estimated polarimetric sub-space decomposition at minimize any potential bias. Then, Gaussian backscatter model employed extract vertical The inverted profiles differ significantly over various stands in channels, indicating important sensitivity structure. According these measurements, tree species, as pines spruces, were presenting different signatures related distribution of their structural elements. On contrary, heterogeneity low L-band, allowing accurately invert height from an empirical function. general workflow taking advantage both frequencies finally species.

Forest height estimation using P-band Pol-InSAR data
A P-band Pol-InSAR dataset acquired over a maritime pine forest is evaluated for forest height estimation. First, a time-frequency inversion methodology is presented. Good results have been obtained (2 m RMS error over 27 stands). However, since the method is adapted to airborne SAR data, we further investigate methods that could be used to invert spaceborne SAR data. Possible adaptations of th...
متن کاملForest Height and Ground Topography at L-band from an Experimental Single-pass Airborne Pol-insar System
Many applications require bare-earth Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) in the presence of forest canopy. L-Band is an attractive candidate, but the derived interferometric phase represents a combination of ground and volume scattering contributions from the canopy above. The use of PolInSAR techniques, and the Random Volume Over Ground (RVOG) Model has had considerable success in model inversion st...
متن کاملPolarimetric Sar Interferometry (pol-insar) for Global Forest Biomass Monitoring
A central parameter to the terrestrial carbon budget is forest biomass which represents a proxy for carbon. Despite its crucial role in the terrestrial carbon budget, forest biomass is poorly quantified across most parts of the planet due to the great difficulties in measuring biomass on the ground and consistently aggregating measurements across scales. Today’s information is largely based on ...
متن کاملEstimation of Forest Biomass from an Airborne Single-pass L-band Pol-insar System
In this paper we describe forest height and biomass results obtained with an experimental airborne L-Band fully polarimetric, singlepass InSAR system over a test area in western Canada. The significance of the single-pass characteristic is that temporal decorrelation is avoided, allowing more robust Pol-InSAR forest parameter recovery. The derived tree height results were validated against thos...
متن کاملDifferential Insar Studies in the Boreal Forest Zone in Finland
In this paper we present preliminary results on the applicability of differential SAR interferometry to detect and measure land movement in the vegetated areas where only few targets or small areas maintain coherence. Strong temporal decorrelation in the vegetated areas makes traditional DINSAR impracticable and, therefore, techniques that are based on phase values of single pixels and long tim...
